I have now spoken to the National Deaf Children's Society who have confirmed that they are doing door-to-door fund-raising in this area during October. Their collectors should be easy to identify as they should wear purple tops or tabards with the NDCS logo and charity number (1016532) clearly visible. They all carry an identity badge and information about the charity. They will be working in pairs and normally as part of a wider team operating in the locality.
I would still urge residents to be extremely cautious about giving out their bank details to any stranger cold-calling at their home. If you wish to support a charity it is much safer to make donations, or arrangements for regular donations, directly via their offices or websites.
