Over the last 2 days, 5 vehicles have had catalytic converters stolen in our beat area. Two of the vehicles were Mercedes Sprinter Vans and these had their whole exhaust systems taken.
One such attack took place on Winterbeck Industrial Estate on Wednesday night, 18/19th April. Also out at Thorpe Arnold the same night another Merc Sprinter Van had its whole exhaust system stolen. Police believe the incidents are linked. Removal of these items takes time and often requires machinery to jack up and cut out the catalytic converter. Did you notice anything unusual in that area at that time? If so please inform the police on the non-emergency 101 number.
Please be aware that catalytic convereters are a desirable commodity for thieves and are expensive to replace. Take extra precautions to safeguard your property at this time of heightened risk.
