Rare Cycle Image Key to Leicester Burglary

Police have released the image of a stolen bike in the hope that members of the public will come forward and lead them to those responsible for a burglary in Leicester. ( See link below)

Officers investigating the burglary, which happened at a house in Stoneygate Road between 4.10pm and 5.50pm on Thursday August 9, hope that someone will recognise the bike and call police with further information.

A large quantity of property was taken from the house, including mobile phones, cash, laptops, a digital camera, jewellery and a black Seat Leon.

The stolen bike, a black Cube SL Cross Pro, is extremely rare and is one of only five in the world with it being the only one in the UK.

Postal Delivery Scam - Reminder

In partnership with the Shop Direct Group, the police we have been asked to remind you of a scam that targets unsuspecting members of the public in the delivery of parcels and packages.

Scam Details

A criminal makes an order for goods to be sent to an address of an unsuspecting member of the public.

When the parcel arrives, within a short time frame, the criminal will call at the address, normally wearing a ‘hi viz jacket’ to make them look official, and asks for the parcel to return it back to the company.

In this circumstance the parcel is never received back by the mail order company and the member of the public is charged for the delivery item.

Items ordered include clothing and technical devices such as ipads and mobile telephones.

Should you be a victim to this type of fraud, please retain the parcel and contact:

Action Fraud at www.actionfraud.police.uk or by calling 0300 123 2040. You should also contact your local police to report the crime on 101.

If you know of persons committing this type of crime:

Call Crimestoppers anonymously Tel: 0800 555 111 (A national charity that enables members of the public to give confidential information relating to crimes and criminal activity, without giving their name or details.)

Leicestershire Police is constantly looking for effective ways to communicate with members of the public. We run several campaigns each year. Could you help us with our plans?

We are looking for a few individuals who would give us quick feedback. For example, which out of a selection of campaign slogans has the most impact?

You won’t have to leave home, and there won’t be a significant time commitment.

If you can help us, please email Corporate Communications officer Brendan.mcgrath@leicestershire.pnn.police.uk .
