This warning was originally issued on 20th November. We are recirculating it as the phishing email is still being received by local residents.
We continue to receive reports about attempted scams including a suspected email phishing scam claiming to be from HMRC advising the recipient that they have an unclaimed tax refund. Be aware that HMRC do not deal with tax refunds via email! If in doubt contact HMRC direct using their advertised telephone number and check it out. Do not rely on the telephone numbers in the email - they may be part of the scam, and do not click on any links in the email.
