Bottesford NHW Alert: Threatening Email / Thefts of Heating Oil

A local resident has recently received a very disturbing email which takes scam emails to a new low. The sender claims to have been paid to kill the recipient but offers to help for a payment of £20,000. The recipient is warned not to tell anyone or the threat will be carried out and will possibly be extended to other members of their family. The message makes very poor use of english which is a typical feature of scam emails. Making threats of this kind is a serious matter and this case has been reported to the police.
If you receive an email along these lines you are advised to report it to the police on the 101 non-emergency number.

Thefts of Heating Oil

With colder weather expected in the next few days thefts of heating oil are likely to increase. There has already been one attempt reported locally and other reports are coming in from adjacent counties. If you use heating oil please be extra vigilant at this time and where possible take extra precautions. Alarms are now available to protect oil supplies and security lighting can deter potential thieves. Don't assume that thefts will occur at the dead of night; the recent attempt made locally was at 9.30pm whilst the owners were watching TV. If you notice anything suspicious please report it to the police. Crime in progress 999 otherwise 101.
