Bottesford NHW Alert: Message from the National Flood Forum

The National Flood Forum has asked us to circulate the following message and attached press release.

"The negotiations between Government and the insurance industry on a framework for flood risk insurance have been going on for over 2 years now. Each time we think that a deal is close, decisions get postponed.  We now think that Government may be backsliding on its promise to put a framework in place and we need to apply pressure to make sure that we do get a deal.

Once again, we need you to contact your local MP to impress upon them the importance of Government putting a framework in place.  You can ask MPs to lobby ministers directly, ask Parliamentary Questions and Oral Questions.  The National Flood Forum has been promoting the levy and pool model as the solution that most effectively addresses the issues of availability of flood risk insurance, affordability and ensuring that the most vulnerable in society are protected.

Please find attached a press release that we are sending out today.  We will also be working with a number of MPs to ask questions in Parliament and sending out further press releases next week.

Any help that you can give would be much appreciated and please contact Paul Cobbing (0777 3355 181) if there is anything you would like to discuss".
