Local Burglaries and Thefts

 

Lincs police report that on Tuesday 2nd July there was an attempted break in to a property on Vicarage lane Long Bennington

 

Leics police report: On Sunday 30th June overnight into Monday 1st July a Valuable Generator was taken from the organisers of Knipfest at Knipton Cricket Club, Harston.

 

On Tuesday 2nd July overnight into Wednesday 3rd July various items were taken from a garden shed and garage at a property in Muston

 

Sometime over the past week somebody has broken into a summer house on Belvoir Road, Eaton and taken toys and damaged the toilet in the house.

 

Anyone with any information on the  above please contact the police on the non-emergency 101 number.

 Thefts of Diesel and Heating Oil - Good News From Notts Police

Overnight, two males were arrested in the Bingham/Trent cluster area, following the discovery of red diesel within their vehicle.

The males are currently subject to further enquiries and interviews.

 Following continued thefts of diesel, red diesel and heating oil in the area, increased patrols have taken place looking for vehicles containing fuel drums, as well as checking vehicles and their occupants for the smell of oil and diesel when stopped.

 Such patrols led to the arrest of the two males in a large vehicle, which contained an extensive number of large fuel containers which were full.

 The males are currently in custody, with CID conducting extensive enquiries into their activities.

 Readers are requested to pay attention to not only theirs, but also neighbouring properties, to contact the Police should they see any suspicious activity and to ensure that any fuel tanks are as secure as possible, with the following advice being present to further deter offenders:

• Keep your tank in a well overlooked position – this will ensure thieves are more likely to be seen.
• If your tank is close to your house make sure that it can be seen from your windows – this coupled with lighting will make it less of a target.
• Security lights can help deter potential thieves. Low level ‘dusk ‘til dawn’ lights positioned close to the tank should, in most cases, provide sufficient light to illuminate any suspicious activity.
• Enclosing your tank in a building which can be secured is better still. However it is important not to overlook the importance of ventilation; advice should be sought from your oil company.

• If you have a gate keep it closed and locked when you are out.
• Make sure your perimeter fence is in good condition and is not easy to climb.

• Invest in a good quality lock. Close shackle padlocks are recommended as they offer better resistance to bolt croppers and other tools that thieves usually come equipped with.
• Check your oil gauges regularly to alert you to any potential thefts and help investigations by narrowing crime times down. Many tanks can be fitted with a gauge to monitor levels which can be read inside the house
