More Scam Telephone Calls
Reports of scam telephone calls are being received from the north west of the county. The callers claim to be from North West Leics Council (although this could be changed according to the area being targeted) offering significant reductions/rebates in Council Tax. The caller makes an appointment to visit the recipient and once there seeks a payment of £175 to cover administration.
North West Leicestershire Council do not contact consumers in this way and Council Tax banding assessments are Free.
Trading Standards always advise residents to never give or confirm personal / bank details over the telephone and not to agree to appointments from cold callers.If you receive any reports of similar activity or callers please contact Trading Standards on 08454 04 05 06 or use telltradingstandards@leics.gov.uk
More Thefts from Outbuildings
We continue to receive reports of more thefts from outbuildings in the surrounding areas:Barrowby, Sproxton, Stonesby and Sewstern. Continued vigilance is advised and please report any suspicious activity to the police. Crime in progress 999, all other matters 101.
