An Emerging National Scam

There is reporting both locally and nationally of a scam involving persons calling members of the public alleging they are police officers. The scamsters are giving names and collar numbers of real officers on occasion. Some have claimed to be from the Met or from West Midlands Police.
The caller will say they have persons in custody who have cloned the IP's bank card. Requests are then made for PIN numbers and on some occasions they have asked if the IP is at home alone.
Occasionally a courier has been sent to the IP's address to collect the bank card and PIN numbers.
This is a huge problem for the Metpol and it has spread across the country.

Harby - Duster Sellers
Saturday 12th April 2014 – Duster sellers reported to Harby NHW around midday.
2 Males – one early 20’s. other older teenager (?). Both short in height, both dark hair, one slightly darker than the other. The older person has ‘a bit of a beard’ as though needs a shave. Older person may also have a broken tooth.
Both wearing dark jackets and trousers – dark grey/black. Both carrying black holdalls with a logo (unknown).
Both apparently just released from prison .Did not have any ID, one only showed his electronic leg tag!!
One said to be polite in manner.
They said it was legal to cold call as there are no cold calling signs and the police know they are in the area. (Our local beat team were not aware of them in the area until NHWI notified them).
Please report any sightings to the police on 101 so they may be checked out if possible.
Please pass information to vulnerable persons and anyone friends/neighbours not on email alerts.
