Bottesford NHW Alert: Suspicious Activity in the Area / Message From Our Police Beat Team / Found & Lost Cats

Suspicious Activity in the Area

A door to door salesman called on a vulnerable local lady. Vigilant neighbours intervened and sent the man away. He is slim to medium build, short dark hair shaved with clippers, and about 5ft 7", wearing dark trousers. Local police were informed.

A resident has reported two men appearing to take photographs of his/her home and another nearby property near the primary school. If you see any activity like this please inform the police immediately on the non-emergency 101 number. In the same area there has been an unsuccessful attempt to steal from the contractor's site at the primary school. Can residents in that area by out of hours please keep an eye out and report ANY suspicious activity to the police.

Message From Our Police Beat Team

We have been made aware of a suspicious vehicle which has been driving around the Vale and has been seen in Waltham on the Wolds and Thorpe Arnold recently. It is a Red Transit van, although the Vehicle Registration has not been confirmed. Anyone who sees this vehicle acting suspiciously is requested to call Police on 101 as soon as possible.

Also, there have been a number of Burglary Dwellings and Non-Dwellings over the past few weeks. Please can people be vigilant with the darker nights and ensure that all windows and doors are locked and secured, as well as all items of value being kept out of sight from windows. This will hopefully deter opportunist criminals from committing crime in the Vale.

The recent Burglary Dwellings have been on Hall Road (Buckminster), Main Street (Freeby) and Church Lane (Long Clawson). Non-Dwelling Burglaries have been on Manor Road (Easthorpe), Melton Road (Waltham), Main Street (Normanton), Mount Lane (Hose) and East End (Long Clawson).

Found & Lost Cats

The little black cat that was reported lost some months ago has returned home safe and non the worse for wear. The owners have asked us to thank everyone who offered help to find their pet.
Another cat has been reported missing in the Devon Lane area for the last week. She's a very small ginger and white long haired cat, not wearing a collar but is chipped. Could residents please check their garages and sheds to ensure she hasn't been inadvertently locked in somewhere? Please contact NHW if you see a cat matching the description in that area.
