Scam

The following message has been received form the police:

"Police have received reports of elderly women being approached by two women claiming they are from abroad and that they are lost.

Whilst one of the women shows the victim a map the other steals property from the victims' handbag.

The most recent incident took place in Meynell Road in Leicester at about 4pm Thursday afternoon (October 20) when the 69-year-old victim was approached by two women asking for directions.

They claimed they were French and were lost. One of the women showed the victim a map whilst the other stole a purse from the victim's handbag.

Two other similar incidents have been reported to have taken place in Loughborough in Brisco Avenue and Westfield Drive".

Anyone being approached in such circumstances should be extra vigilant and report it to the police.
