A local resident has reported receiving an email supposedly from Revenue and Customs advising him of a tax refund. This is a scam. HMRC do not notify people of tax refunds by email. If you receive such a communication do not open it and do not activate any of the links. The best course of action is to completely delete it from your pc unopened. If you have any doubts about the content of the email contact HMRC directly using contact information from their website.
