More Thefts of Catalytic Converters!

Please be aware the number of Catalytic Converter thefts is increasing. On our beat (Melton Rural North) there have been 9 reported in the space of 7 days. Nottinghamshire Police have also had reports of thefts. We believe the offenders are travelling from outside force area and are committing the thefts in the evenings and early hours having previously cased the area during the daytime.

These offenders are mainly targeting 4x4 style vehicles as previously and the 10 latest victims had the following vehicles:

  1. Mitsubishi shogun
  2. Ford Ranger
  3. Toyota Hilux
  4. Toyota Hilux
  5. Toyota Hiace
  6. Toyota Hiace
  7. Mitsubishi Animal
  8. Mitsubishi Trojan
  9. Mitsubishi Shogun
  10. Mitsubishi warrior

The police are reiterating the importance of reporting anything suspicious without delay. Due to the high level of thefts, they are asking people to be extra vigilant and if there are any suspicious looking vehicles to dial 999 and treat it as a high priority incident for an immediate response as opposed to dialling 101. The thieves appear to be targeting vehicles in rural areas so vehicles in those locations are at particular risk.

Missing Person

Lincs Police are currently helping Derbyshire Police search for a missing person who they believe is currently walking around the Lincolnshire region at this time.

Richard Bartles (29) has not been seen since he left his family home on Jaeger Close in Derbyshire at around 5pm on Sunday 3rd March.

His disappearance is completely out of character and he has not contacted his family since leaving.

Mr Bartles is around 5ft 10in tall, of medium build, with short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded jumper with an ‘Iron Man’ logo, blue jeans and grey trainers.

Officers believe Mr Bartles may have been in Nottingham and Lincolnshire in the last few days and are liaising with police in those areas as part of the search to find him.

Mr Bartles, or anyone with any information about his whereabouts, is asked to contact Derbyshire police using the non-emergency number 101.
