No Cold Calling Zones
Anglian cold-calling sales staff have been reported ignoring NCCZs in Melton. If they should arrive and do the same in our area please inform us at NHW with the following information:
Time, date and address of the call.
Descriptions of the caller and if possible their name/s.
If a Doorstep sticker is displayed, and where it is displayed.
Did the trader leave when asked to leave? Were they abusive in their manner?
NHW will collate any such information and take the matter up with Trading Standards and Anglian.
Parents and carers are being offered help and advice to keep their children safe online from sexual exploitation.
Leicestershire Police in conjunction with the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) are holding three seminars in October and November. The first has already been held.
The seminars, which are entitled 'Keeping Your Family Safe Online from Sexual Exploitation', are suitable for parents, carers or professionals whose work involves child safeguarding. They will cover what child sexual exploitation is; what the signs are; and what parents/carers can do to protect their children.
Detective Inspector Rich Hiom, Force lead for child sexual exploitation, said: "There have been some high profile court cases in the media in recent months, both nationally and locally, which relate to child sexual exploitation.

The seminars are being held between 6pm and 8pm at Police Headquarters in Enderby on the following dates:
Monday October 14, and Monday November 11.
Places are limited and are subject to prior confirmation of attendance. Refreshments will also be provided.

The day course, which is being run by Leicester City Council, starts at 9am and will run until 3.30pm and will include:
- Theory
- Driver distractions
- Moving away and stopping
- Use of gears
- Steering
- Junctions
- Manoeuvring
The course normally costs £35, however, for a limited time it is being offered for £25.
