Theft from car

At about 1pm today an unattended car was broken into and a ladies handbag and contents stolen. The car was parked on Castleview Road, at the Redmile end, near the canal whilst the driver walked her dog. The police have been informed. If anyone was in the area at that time and saw anything suspicious please report it to the police on the national 101 non-emergency number. It is possible that the thieves were only interested in any cash in the bag and having taken that they may have discarded the bag and remaining contents somewhere in the local area. It is a brown Dubarry bag and anyone finding it should contact the police.

Many people park their cars in quite isolated places when walking the local footpaths/canal. This is a timely reminder that this practice is not without risk. If doing so it is wise to avoid leaving any valuables in the car. If that is not possible then they should be secured in the boot and cash, credit and debit cards and keys should be removed and taken with the car occupants.
