Sometime over the last week while occupants were on holiday a property on Fleming Avenue was broken into and jewellery and cash were stolen. When an attempt to force the rear windows failed a glass panel in the rear door was smashed to allow entry.
This is the second incident inside a week and someone is clearly targeting properties in the area. Please take extra precautions at this time of heightened risk. If you are going on holiday ask a trusted neighbour, family member, friend or your local NHW Co-ordinator to keep an eye on your property. Make sure all windows and doors are locked and where possible bolted. If you have an alarm – use it. Try to avoid leaving small high value items like jewellery and cash in the property. Where possible secure access to the rear of your property or make access as difficult as you can.
Finally another plea to all residents to report any suspicious activity to the police promptly.
